Sophia Atcha

Sophia studied Media and Performance at Salford University where she concentrated mainly on screen writing under the guidance of script writer Phil Charles.

She went on to produce her first short film Sweet F&A, a short play, Bus Stops and Tiffin's and has just completed her first full length play, Long Johns and Lungi’s, set in her home town of Bolton in the 1950’s.  It was successfully workshopped by the Theatre by the Lake actors with Artistic Director, Joe Sumption.

Sophia has worked with inspirational and experimental theatre facilitator, Tracy Gentles, making guerrilla theatre.

Since her graduation, Sophia has acted in short films, taken part in an episode of Channel 5’s Great Northern Cookbook and a four week stint at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2012, in a Nigerian adaptation of Chaucer’s, The Miller’s Tale: Wahala Dey Oh!

Sophia is passionate about radio drama and has performed in several short plays for BBC Radio Cumbria.  At the moment, Sophia is writing a play called Maid of all Work, for Wordsworth House at the National Trust.
